Happy New Year to you all. I hope you all enjoyed some rest and relaxation over the festive period and you feel replenished for the year ahead. In this blog post, I’ll be sharing some of the ways we can practice yoga together and use other tools to support your health and happiness in 2023. Check out some exciting sneak peaks too!
What’s coming up in January/ February?
I know, for many, January and February can be a difficult few months. I’m here throughout to help you feel grounded and restored:
Yoga your way
First and foremost, I’ll be continuing to run my weekly yoga classes. These will take place as usual on Mondays at 7.15pm and Thursdays at 7pm at St Judes Church Hall in Halifax. These classes focus on Hatha Yoga, which brings balance in the body, mind and emotions, and are suitable for all abilities. You will always be welcomed at my yoga evenings. No shoulds, no expectations. Just come as you are.
Alongside side this, I also have an On Demand library which is perfect for people who can’t make the in-person classes or live further afield. When life gets busy, these videos can help you to carve about some time to focus on your own wellbeing from the comfort of your own home. You deserve it!
Love Your Body course
I’m also excited to be running the Love Your Body course. I had to pause this for a few weeks due to illness at the end of last year. I can’t wait to get this started back up again. This course has been designed to help you love yourself just as you are, while also taking more positive steps to better look after yourself and your body.
This is the second Love Your Body course I’ve run, and I really do feel like it’s a game-changer. It tackles health and wellbeing in a more natural, holistic and sustainable way. The participants have really grabbed the opportunity with both hands and the results continue to be incredible. So… I want to bring it to as many people as possible! This year, I’ll be working on a Love Your Body book that brings together everything we cover in the course. Each chapter will cover a different topic and will have lots of varied tools and techniques to support your learning. Think meditation or a journaling exercise for example. Watch this space for further info!
Calderdale Cares 4 Us
I’m also thrilled to be delivering more ‘Calderdale Cares 4 Us (CC4US)’ sessions to support key workers in January and February. My sessions are now fully booked but if you work in the public or voluntary sectors, you can access other services from the CC4US website.
What’s new for 2023?
I’m not one to stand still for very long so I already have lots of new things planned for 2023! Here’s a sneak peak of what’s to come:
Rest and relaxation course
This part-instructional and part-practical deep relaxation course is new for 2023 and is already fully booked (wow, thanks everyone!). The sessions will run from 5 January for five weeks. They will give participants the tools to create their own rest and relaxation home practices.
Guided journaling course
I’m currently working on another course that I hope to bring to you very soon. It complements the Love Your Body course and focuses on using journaling for wellbeing. Journaling is a powerful tool for unlocking and processing the conscious or subconscious things that hold us back in life. This course will provide a safe space to uncover some of that through guided journaling exercises and a supportive community.
Reiki training
Later in the year, I also plan to bring Reiki training to you. You can expect:
- Reiki 1 – for self-healing and practice on family and friends
- Reiki 2 – to be able to offer it to the public and includes further attunements
- Reiki 3 – to become a Reiki Master
If anyone is interested, please contact me to be added to my ‘interested list’ and I’ll keep you updated as my plans develop.
Self-care in schools
A big ambition of mine for 2023 is to do more work with schools. Inspired by my Love Your Body course, I have such a passion for working with primary and secondary age children to highlight the importance of self-care practices. I’ve learnt so much from running this course with adults. I really do feel that if young people were given certain tools earlier on in life, our children would be able to enjoy happier and healthier futures. I’m trying to get in touch with the right people at the moment to take this idea forward. If anyone would like to know more or has any ideas for how I can get this off the ground, please do get in touch!
2023 and beyond
I don’t really do New Year’s resolutions as too often they are focused on what we want to change about ourselves. I’d rather focus on how wonderful we are without changing a thing! That being said, New Year can be a helpful time to look forward and set intentions for the next 12 months and beyond.
Looking at the bigger picture, my ultimate goal is to never to stop teaching yoga. I don’t have any ambitions of retirement – I want to be teaching until I’m old and wrinkly! I also want to carry on building my yoga community so that it continues to be more than a yoga class. Creating a safe space where like-hearted people can come together (both physically and metaphorically) to figure things out is so important to me. So, whether I’m delivering a course, leading a yoga session or writing a book, the purpose behind it all is same for me: to help people to live a life that is harmonious and full of joy.
And on that note, I’ll say bye for now and wish you all the best for 2023. May you be happy, may you be healthy, may you be peaceful.
With love, Adele xx
